To Triumph or Give Tribute

Today’s Scripture “But, they have iron chariots (said Manasseh)… You will drive out the Canaanites even though they are strong and have iron chariots (replied Joshua)” (Joshua 17:16, 18).

Today, we learn that not all the tribes completely drove out all the inhabitants of Canaan. One tribe in particular was intimidated by looks; their “iron chariots” made them very afraid. So, instead of driving them out, they made them their slaves and even made them pay them monetary tribute.
Are you going to settle for tribute or are you going to go for triumph? Do you let your sins stay and “pay tribute” or do you work with the Holy Spirit to be changed, wiping them out in triumph? We must choose to live life with courageous faith, or we risk settling for less than God’s best.
