The Sin of Impatience

“In seven days I’ll meet you and I’ll sacrifice the offering” (1 Samuel 10:8).
Kingdom of Saul:

To Find (look for):
What is the condition of the fighting weapons the Israelites have (1 Samuel 13:19-22)?
What did Saul do that displeased Samuel, and why was it wrong (1 Samuel 13:9)?
To Mind (key point): Yesterday, Saul was declared king! Today, we see insights into the relationship between kings and prophets. In the midst of a decimating battle, Saul fails to wait a few hours more until Samuel arrived to perform the sacrifice. Saul offers it himself committing a grievous mistake against the Lord’s regulations. When confronted by Samuel, he deflects accountability and blames others. Samuel prophecies his kingdom will not endure.
To Bind (apply to our lives): While it is easy to look at Saul’s situation and see the wrong in his actions, how easy is it for us to fail to wait on God? Can you think of a time when you rushed into action before asking God what to do, which led to undesirable consequences?
