The Shiloh Distribution
Today’s Bible Study March 28, 2012
“The entire community of Israel gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tabernacle” (Joshua 18:1).
How the land was distributed to the 12 Tribes:
To Find (look for):
In what city were the remaining seven tribes given their allotments, and what was set up there (Joshua 18:1)?
Which tribe inherited the city of Jerusalem (Joshua 18:26)?
To Mind (key point): The entire community gathered at Shiloh and set up the Tabernacle there. Shiloh became the principle sanctuary of the Israelites during the time of the Judges for the next 100 years.
To Bind (apply to our lives): The remaining seven tribes received their portions of land today by casting lots. In the video, we discuss how this process worked and where the practice originated. This was not an arbitrary practice, for we are to understand it as an Old Testament process which the Israelites used to determine God’s will. We do not use this practice today because we have the Holy Spirit inside of us giving us direction.
