“Bezalel made the lampstand of pure, hammered gold…from one piece.” (Exodus 39:8).

A reconstruction of the lampstand by the Temple Institute:

12 Diagram of Tabernacle

To Find (look for):

  1. How much gold was used to make the lampstand (Exodus 37:24)?

  2. Out of how many pieces was the lampstand made (Exodus 37:17)?

To Mind (key point): Night and day, continuously, the High Priest was responsible to keep the lampstand burning whether anyone was present or not. These seven lamps lit up the Holy Place shining light on the bread that sat on the table across the room. For us today, the lampstand testifies to the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives Who “enlightens us” giving us understanding and shows us the way to the bread of life, Jesus Christ.

To Bind (apply to our lives): Of all the ways the lampstand could have been created, God chose for it to be hammered out of one piece of gold. When there are times we feel life is “hammering away at us,” the lampstand reminds us that God will use our trials ultimately for our good, crafting a beautiful end-result (Rom 8:28).
