Focused on Forward

Today’s Scripture “Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt” (Genesis 19:26).

Notes Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind the group leaving the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Salvation was offered to her, but it required that she turn away from a life of sin and love of the world. This is something she chose not to do, and because of her choice to “love the world” more than God, she perished. God was faithful in keeping His promise to Abraham, even though its fulfillment came many years later. God’s timing is not always our timing; however, we can rest in the assurance that God’s promises are sure for all time.

In I John 2:5 we read, “Do not love the world or anything in the world, for the world and its desires will pass away.” Do you have a tendency to cling to the world? When we look back, we forfeit the greater blessings God has ahead of us. This day, will you trust God to stay focused on the path forward and resolve never to look back?
