Divided Loyalties
Today’s Bible Study November 19, 2012
“Even to have such lawsuits with one another is a defeat for you. Why not just accept the injustice and leave it at that? Why not let yourselves be cheated?” (1 Corinthians 6:7).
To Mind (key point): The Corinthian church had issues that were not so unlike some of ours that we can’t relate to them today. Loyalties, divisions, un-dealt with sin, and other struggles are all addressed in this letter from Paul. While other letters Paul wrote may be about the universal church, this letter was written to – and for – the local church, whose members had lost their sense of self-control.
To Bind (apply to our lives): What is it that you need to put under better control in your life? Is it pride, arrogance, your mind, or perhaps your body? Renew your devotion to God and give him first place.
