Building a Temple
Today’s Bible Study May 21, 2012
“If you keep all my decrees and regulations and obey all my commands… I will never abandon my people Israel” (I Kings 6:12-13).
To Find (look for):
What materials were used in the building of the Temple (2 Chronicles 3:5-6)?
How long did it take to build the Temple (1 Kings 6:38)?
To Mind (key point): Solomon reigned 40 years during a time of peace and prosperity. It was the golden age for Israel. Today, he begins work on the construction of the Temple, which took 7 years to build.
To Bind (apply to our lives): Today’s reading shows us the fulfillment of God’s promise that Solomon would be king and would build a Temple, where God would dwell. It was strikingly beautiful, twice the size of the former Tabernacle. This temple is the first of three Temples to be built at Mt. Zion on Temple Mount.
