An Unconditional Covenant

Today’s Scripture “You are entirely faithful” (Psalm 89.8).

  In Psalm 144, we see multiple descriptions for God, such as loving ally, fortress, tower, rescuer and shield. The praise rendered in this Psalm is truly appropriate because of the greatness of our God. In it we also see a beatitude: Blessed are people who have Yahweh as their God (Ps 144.15).

  Psalm 89 is a Messianic Psalm in which Ethan describes Jesus’ coming kingdom, which will never end. In these verses, we can identify with the time of our own history when it looks as though Israel is without a king; yet in certain hope, we look forward to the time when God’s promise is visualized through Christ’s second coming and Millennial reign. David’s dynasty will go on forever (Ps 89:34-36). Do you pray for the quickening of Christ’s return?
