An Assassination

Today’s Scripture

“Joash’s officers plotted to kill him for murdering the son of Jehoiada the priest” (2 Chronicles 24:25).

Syria attacked Jerusalem, invaded with force and killed all the leaders. This battle is not to be underestimated as it put Joash in a position of weakness, fear and trembling. As a result, he paid off Syria with a bribe of God’s things from the Temple treasury.

 How often do we rob the Lord as we try to solve our own problems?
