An Advocate Who Intercedes
Today’s Bible Study January 23, 2012
“My witness is in heaven. My advocate is there on high” (Job 16:19).
To Find (look for):
What is Job’s opinion of the help the friends are providing? (Job 16:2)
Who is Job prophesying about in Job 16:19?
What does it mean to be a mediator (to intercede)?
To Mind (key point): Today, we have an Advocate who sits at the right hand of God in heaven, Who lives to intercede for us. This Advocate makes us a friend to God and makes it possible for us to live at peace with God. One day, Jesus Christ, our Advocate, will both judge and defend us in righteousness on Judgment Day, providing covering for our sins, which will be forgotten and remembered no more.
To Bind (apply to our lives): God demonstrated the value of intercession in the giving of His Son to live and die as a sacrifice for our sins in order that we might be reconciled to God. Intercessors are valued highly by God. How much time do you spend interceding for the lives of those around you?
