A River of Healing

Today’s Scripture: September 6 “I saw a stream flowing east from beneath the door of the Temple and passing to the right of the altar on its south side… Then he said to me, ‘This river flows east through the desert into the valley of the Dead Sea'” (Ezekiel 47:1,8).

  The concluding few chapters of Ezekiel are rich in detail and imagery about Israel, the Holy City Jerusalem and a new river which will flow through it. A miracle for sure, it will extend eastward into (fresh!) waters of the Dead Sea and westward into the Mediterranean Sea. The new river is a visual reminder of God’s blessing that flows from Jerusalem for all peoples.
