A Plea for Wisdom

Today’s Scripture “Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction” (Proverbs 22:17).

The writings in today’s Scripture differ in writing style from previous Proverbs. Today we see a major division, as if a father is writing, pleading with his son, to heed these words of instruction. Notice longer sentences as opposed to contrasting clauses and negative commands (i.e. “don’t”) appear seventeen times.

Today’s lesson encourage us to avoid eight things: oppression, the violent, co-signing, cheating neighbors, disrespecting parents, fraternizing with illicit women, drunkenness, or making major plans without first seeking Godly counsel. How do you fare?
