A Loyal Band

“Then the men of Judah came to David and anointed him king over the people of Judah” (2 Samuel 2:4).

To Find (look for):

  1. Did David have different levels of fighting men (2 Samuel 23:13)?

  2. How many men were in the band of Thirty (2 Samuel 38:39)?

To Mind (key point): The group of “Thirty” was a band of loyal, fighting men that comprised David’s army. It was a technical term for a small military contingent known in Hebrew.

To Bind (apply to our lives): The mighty men demonstrated God’s provision for David as they became the tool by which (later) David and these men conquered all the land God promised to their forefather Abraham (Genesis 15:18). Extremely loyal, they risk their life for David, who loved them in return. The world needs Christians whose loyalty to Jesus is like the loyalty of David’s men. How far does your loyalty to Him go?
