A Coup d’etat

Today’s Scripture

“Then Jehoiada brought out Joash, the kings’s son, placed the crown on his head and presented him with a copy of God’s laws” (2 Kings 11:12).

  Athaliah was related by blood to Ahab. The daughter of this wicked king, she grew up with Jezebel and false gods and learned to lust for power. She kills all the royal family just to take the throne.

 After six years, untested, Jehoiada leads an overthrow, which ends Athaliah’s reign and places Joash, a rightful heir, back on Judah’s throne.
