A Christ-like Prophet
Today’s Bible Study June 15, 2012
“Elisha stretched himself out again on the (dead) child. This time the (dead) boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes” (2 Kings 4:35)!
To Find (look for):
How many miracles can you count Elisha performing in today’s reading?
What New Testament story does the miracle of the barley bread remind you of (2 Kings 4:42)?
To Mind (key point): Elijah was a prophet taken to heaven in 848 BC – alive – in a whirlwind. Elisha, his disciple of 7-8 (maybe even 10) years, served the LORD for half a decade as prophet too. These men shared a commitment to the Most High God, yet were very different people in their personality.
To Bind (apply to our lives): Some have likened these two prophets to two famous New Testament prophets. Do you know who?
